What I have learned in 1020
From January to May, 1020 has taught me alot. Arguing with a suitable claim as well as researching information is more than just a paper to me. It is more like a requirement or rather an asset for later on in life. After struggling in the beginning I finally realized what the main objective of the class was, proving whether you agree or not and why, simple as that. But, for some reason I made things more complicated, with not really choosing a side and sticking to it. However, I now know how to prove or maybe choose a resourceful argument and bring out the point to where even the reader would be provoked to claiming my side as well. English comp. 1020 has really transitioned me greatly and now that I know what I didn't know I won't go back. Thanks to a very patient and understanding teacher Melissa Simms!

Templates for Agree and Disagreeing
Disagree: I think Andrea Hamblin is mistaken because she overlooks the fact teens are going to continue teasing and spreading rumors against others.
Agree:
I agree that social sites produce an even greater chance for more harmful acts to take place becasue of my experience of trying to reconnect with an old an classmsate confirms it.
Agree to Disagree:
Although I agree with Thomas Billitteri that social networks being "social bullying" platforms up to a point, I cannot accept his overall conclusion of banning adults away from any social site.
Entertaining Objections: Yet some readers may challenge my view that Facebook and Twitter have become a little bit to exposed to not just users but non-users as well. After all many believe that these two sites are remarkbly conformed with foul usage. Indeed my own argument that tagging and posting foul videos has gotten out of hand seems to ignore the media and creator of these sites.

Paraphrasing Exercising
Back in the twenties or shall I say the Jazz Age drinking was not tolerated according to an old tale that most people ignored for the reason there was a particular “juke joint” where this type of action could go on. Having not being so strict on crime, police officers gave the attention for misbehavior, but most crimes were not seriously enforced. Being that it was the “Jazz Age” that type of music hit a widespread all over the area. The favorites of them all Louis Armstrong flaunted around as the great musicians of all times, not just because the singing but also the fashion from the ladies.

NO MERCY RESPONSE!
In response to Malcolm Gladwell’s essay, I think that the issue that took place should have because if the issue had never been written about we would not have the strict rules or non-tolerance we have today. The fact that Gladwell took out the time to say what the graduate student’s actions were promotes the security and the awareness of what prompted the student to go forth with the issue. Gladwell says that spending time with a psychiatrist may have been a good idea, but the issue goes far beyond a mental problem or disorder. The essay specifically stated that, at that moment in the student’s life he was going through a lot and could have just possibly needed attention. He was forced to do something that he apparently did not like nor did he agree to take any part of it. Gladwell says in today’s society there is a zero tolerance level for minor behavior, something as small as telling a destructive kid to do the opposite. As a supporter of this essay, Malcolm Gladwell took a big step in publishing this essay so that not just college students, but so everyone could be aware of such a severe situation. Gladwell makes this seem as if the issue was promotable but at the level a punishment should be both cautious and notable. I say that the student a break, clearly he was in a bad place at the wrong time and again he needed attention and maybe just a little bit of encouragement as well as enthusiasm. But, as for the football quarterback, no mercy he was a aware of the severity and the amount that he was being paid, no mercy for him.

Preliminary Research on Facebook and Video/Tag Posts
The research that I am currently doing deals specifically with a video posting of a young teenage girl who was exposed through the act of bullying and nonconsensual sex. During the filming of the video she was unaware of what was going on behind her or who was watching so she claimed. This type of accusation and stage of bullying forced outsiders/viewers to watch and either support her or degrade her. Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube clearly allows users to automatically post videos without some kind of consent or warning. But, the posting is not what kills the users it’s the tagging of someone’s name or profile that causes such a disturbance and a turns into a tantrum. For instance, I watched a YouTube video for entertainment, and the video conductor seriously expressed how he felt about being tagged in unknown videos or pictures that he had never heard of, surprisingly people that he didn’t know and still fails to know who they are today. My point here is that tagging is becoming too explicit; sure any person should be able to post a video for entertainment, but without harming the viewers or the video participants. This summons the amount of preliminary research that I will continue to go forth with.

Claims
How do you catch a rapist who scores every time? You may wonder why the same issues take place, perhaps in a different city but the same charge and sometimes a different person. But, in large cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles that type of access seems to be a bit easier to handle, that is access to reach to certain females on a daily basis. It’s typical that the dirty minds of these individuals are never studied or really thought of as to why being a rapist is so normal. Raping has now become a necessity or rather an access code for life. In other words if a rapist does this a couple of times and doesn’t get caught he is likely to score again whether he is prompted to or not.
Why is there restricted access on Employers computers? (i.e. State Department of Education)

What we Have Learned So Far?
Thus far, English Comp. 1020 has taught me how open up my writing to a much more broader and essential tone. My choice of “Games and Society” was an experimental decision and I must say that arguing back and forth about games and the Internet’s risky ways has really brought on a challenge. In the beginning, we started off we an analysis based on reading different articles/books of our choice and then debate, but at the same time analyze or prove the point on why the particular topic of debate stands out so well. During that type of analysis we were asked to optionally follow the TRACE method and this method does not exemplify as any old helpful source, but rather as guidance for the writer and the reader. The TRACE method simply breaks down as T, R, A, C, E which eludes as the importance of the text, reader, author, constructive and not really sure what the E stands for. This method was created to organize paragraphs, distinguish the differences and similarities between the writer and the author, and to prompt the writer to define the eloquence and details within the article/book. Here now approaching the middle of the semester, the second paper was a difference from the previous analysis. For instance, if the writer supported the author, they were to do the opposite by exploring or bringing out the conducive parts in an argument. Comparing and contrasting was the expectation with the optional choice of using “he says, she says, I say, and they say” examples to prove the valid point of opinion.

Parents grab a hold of Responsibility
Don’t hate the cook; hate the irresponsibility’s of your choice of food. Clearly it has been battled back and forth about kids growing into the obese stage at such a young age and not so many parents find themselves as the blame for this mishap. Three meals should be received each day, but depending on the amount of meal received at that time one or maybe the second meal could be used lightly. I find it very hard to believe that anyone could blame food companies for their burgers being to thick or their fries tasting to salty/greasy, when that same person can cook , the same thing at home. Some parents these days, pay no attention to how much food their child or children may consume. At such a young age it is the parents’ responsibility to determine what their children should eat. I support the case that blaming fast food restaurants for why people’s children are obese or overweight is a complete waste of time. Ask yourself this question, who would win the case based on the obesity of children at a young with a company that has been around for a solid number of years? Most likely the company, it may sound bad but parents hate to admit the fact they are putting their own children’s lives at risk. Moreover, I agree with the author David Zinczenko that suing a company for making kids fat is just like suing any other company for having a great sale on Debbie Cakes and the parent running out to buy them, yet they watch their kids sit there and eat as if they never ate a day before in their lives. Yes I do understand that fast food joints offer lower prices when it comes to food than is usually prepared and ready in less than 10 minutes, but that’s the point of the company. Eating healthy is a much more balanced and affordable route also, some parents may not think it is but eating low-calorie snacks solves the fast-food issue.

Essay Comparison about Games!
The creation and the habit of games come in contact with reality according to some people. They see playing games as a freedom that clinches the brain from a petty or dreadful profession, by escaping the importance of doing work for a company and to receive some type of intangible reward, instead of just getting paid for the hours spent working. However, a small number of people find it very hard to interact with games on daily basis. On the contrary, the people who constantly grind and jam their minds into playing games daily, are theoretically dedicated workers, fast learners, and hungry souls. For the truth is there are solid reasons to diminish to the time for playing games. Possibly the most adequate reasons are to incorporate ideas from games into work, set a time limit on the computer, or drown your kids with more chores. In this essay then, it observes the differences between gamers and non-gamers and whose side holds up to more reliable and truthful sources of information.

Google Article
Is Google making us stupid? No; the knowledge that we have or that we learn all comes from different sources. However, the website/informational site Google happens to be the most reliable sources for research papers, analysis papers, news, or just random information is received from this site. The question or title of the article has a sort of neutral answer, but I believe that Google is not making us stupid. The website was strictly created for informational purposes as well as for pictures, news, and politics. I support the fact that this website does not make people feel stupid or underachieved, because it is rather an asset so someone could feel achieved by using the source. For instance, someone could spend a mass amount of time on the internet daily looking up different types of information and during that time someone could LEARN or BE INFORMED. Google was only created for those purposes, nothing more and nothing less. I find it impossible for anyone to feel stupid from just learning or receiving information from Google, because people learn every day without using the source Google. What about books, magazines, newspapers, and journals, they all provide people with great resources and helpful information. Are they all making us stupid as well? I do not think so; it is simple learning which mostly takes place through communication and reading. I am totally against this article for those reasons and more…

The Value System
Five of my friends each fall into the category of Enlightenment, Personal Success, Progressive, and three P’s Puritan-Pioneer-Peasant. They each have most of the positive areas of the different value systems. These friends particularly from college have their different views, but in some way they are all the same. One of my five friends has a sense of nature and science, her hold life is based on science and nature, because to me science and nature is a bore, but to her it is like home sweet home. I put her in this value system because she revolves around science and she never looks at things from a different point of view, her responses to problems are always to go out and explore, read a book, or do some research. She also has a sense of freedom and that everything she does is controlled by her only. Another one of my friends she is just sweetest person anyone could meet. She falls under the value system of Transcendental and Personal Success because every little thing she does is always referred to how she feels or how someone else may feel. Her emotions take over everything, but her persona is more of staying ahead and helping people get to a certain level in their lives. The third friend of mine is a hard core Puritan-Pioneer-Peasant because she always refers to how things were done back in the day or how things go on in the country. She typically has a story for every little thing and resolution to every problem. My last two friends are very Progressive, they are always busy and working on something. You never really have a chance to hang out with them, either they are working, doing homework, joining some type of group or just being busy because it is what they have always been use to.

Cami Secret!
Cami secret was an advertisement that I had seen last year. The cami was designed for women who wanted to wear a certain blouse, but the cleavage would be the only problem with that blouse. I remember seeing the cami commercial late one night and after watching what the cami could do, I just knew that I was going to buy it. The price for the cami was not a big deal, because I knew that I am one of the struggling young ladies who wanted to wear my favorite top to church and school, but my cleavage got the best. Cami Secret is a perfect solution. My eyes never turned away from the television screen because I wanted to see everything about the Cami. From watching the ad, I learned that the cami was easy to put on and it did not take much. I would have to constantly wash different under shirts so that I could wear a certain blouse. As much as I enjoyed the commercial I still have problems with blouses, sadly because I never purchased a cami. I annoyed my mom so much about it, but I never got one.

My Constraints in an Argument
An argument that involved me and my constraints was when my friends wanted to drag me to a Homosexual Seminar when they always knew that I was very much against being anywhere near a where homosexual resided or felt comfortable residing. We argued back and forth about who was right and wrong and that I should support them regardless. My point of the matter was that I did not like their decisions of becoming homosexual nor did I have friends who were, therefore I saw no reason in supporting someone I did not know or something I would never be a part of. Those friends of mines continued to ramp on about how important it was to support “homo’s “ and then they began to contradict me saying, What if we were homosexual, would you still hang out with us? Me being who I am I ignored the question, by saying that is beside the point. I chose to have an opinion just like everyone else on this earth and in my opinion I do not believe in homosexuality or lesbianism. Honestly, it is a religious belief, although in the bible it mentions two brothers who took part in the shameful sin of homosexuality, it just was not right. I strictly believe that God created man for woman and woman for man, not the same gender to be lawfully wedded. Every time, as friends, when this subject becomes a topic I either change the subject or I go to the bible on them as my mother would do. And no I am not ashamed of my religious beliefs right is right and wrong is wrong, so in this case homosexuality is wrong!

My Favorite Movie is "Dear John"
I enjoy watching love stories and hearing love stories and so the movie Dear John happens
to be my favorite even though it is a recent film I love the storyline behind it. This movie is my favorite because it is nothing like The Notebook or even Cinderella. Dear John is a movie that is fate and so much could happen between fate and doing what a person think is right. For instance, take Cinderella she had no idea about what could happen at the ball neither did the prince know that she was one, well that is until he danced around with her for a while. But, in Dear John the storyline was not based on a fairytale or the dream of falling in love with prince charming. The scenes that took place in Dear John were meant to happen. There is a slight difference among The Notebook and Dear John, well of course there are two totally different characters and the storyline is not quite the same. In The Notebook, the difference is that two people who think that they are ragingly in love until one is separated from the other due to the worries of the girl’s parents. While in Dear John the two characters are brought together by fate but are separated because of a much legitimate reason of John having to serve his country. These two love are both in some way fate, however Dear John shows a better explanation on why the two should be together and why they were separated. A final reason on why this movie is my favorite is because it does not seem surreal or seem like a fairytale it seems real. Everything that happen was based off of being tested and the love that was there was lost but found.

Argumentive Paper on The Media
Why is it that when watching the news, the topics are always the same? In my fall semester at AUM I was instructed to write about the media and its habits, both good and bad. I noticed while watching the news for about two weeks that their information is gathered based off of the same three topics; crime, celebrity updates, and politics. No changes had been made and they never gave accurate information, what they did give was speculations and assumptions. I’m quite sure that some people wouldn’t say that the media does not assume because most people rely on the news to receive confirmations and such. But, if you examine the media instead of actually watching and listening you can tell the difference between true and false. For instance, you know cannot always rely on the media when they are on the topic of a Developing story, which probably is derived from a crime scene or a major/minor disagreement in politics. Behind the scenes it has been documented that the media focuses on these three topics particularly to reach out to a broader audience. In my opinion, the media does not really focus on the main topics that are needed for people, of course we may need to be aware of whether or not we’re in danger, but repeating the same story or a similar is not informing. My paper specifically dealt with pointers from why the media chooses to take that route and why they have not or will not change.

The Worst Argument
"Why do you constantly talk when the conversation is over?" Sometimes I find it very hard to just let certain situations go. So I continue to ravel on until I get my point stated. The worst argument I ever had invovles a major disagreement between an old friend and I, when we get the chance to tell each other how we felt about life after high school. We clashed and disagreed which resulted into a terrible argument. Rampling back and forth about who was right and who was wrong, when both of us hold an equal amount of being wrong. As the smarter one in the friendship, typically I played the role of trying to keep it all together. Yet we constantly argued about the other back talking to another and not just letting it go. The argument was all over why college is not for everyone. In my opinion college is for anyone who puts their mine to doing whatever it is that you want to do. During this most terrible argument curse words were being thrown at each other and the level of disagreement had risen drastically. We had argued to point of hurting each other and we just became needless of the other. In our disagreement we never could come to a conclusion because we disagreed about simple things such as, college is not for males who dropout of high school or college is just not for everyone. I totally disagreed, according to seeing so many of my families members who eventually received their GEDs and years later they were enrolled in two-year colleges I believed that my friend could too. I supported anyone who had the mind and the goals to attend college even if it was receving an Associate's Degree or more. On the other hand my friend clearly made up his mind that he was not going to college.

My History with Games
Games have been a very important activity to me ever since my first excperience with Ms. Pac-man. My first game box was playstation 1 I didnt play games on it every single day but, I played enough. After receiving a playstation 2 I began to play on it constantly. Games for me then became a necessity after my homework of course, and around age 13 games was all i could think about. I would play games on disneychannel, primarygames, and even some yahooo games. As I got older games became very redundant, and about 3 years ago i received my first laptop and a wireless router. I knew that was a huge mistake, because somehow i would find a way to shift right back into my youger years of being glued to a screen. While watching TED on monday i realized that games today are much more important than oil spill or soldiers at war. Literally, games have been made in junction with today's issues and people actually take time out to solve them as if they had an actual response for the problem.
